Comartis Newsletter revamped
The Comartis Newsletter is taking a summer break. Not to relax but to get a fresh new look and feel. You will receive
the first issue of the newly designed Comartis Newletter in September. Thereafter, it will be published on a
quarterly basis, containing as always interesting articles and information on the topic e-Learning. The editorial
team wishes all readers an enjoyable summer.

New Goals - Broadening the Horizon & Incenting Personnel

i-qbox Human Performance Suite.
With the i-qbox, Pfister can allow
its employees to share the responsibility for their personal and professional education. Using one common platform, they can
improve and expand their knowledge according to their rank and job function. Thereby assuring they can successfully perform
current and future work tasks.
This method of learning also allows for an unprecedented flexibility in regards to location and time. A key advantage
especially for a chain store company, where the employees are located decentrally throughout Switzerland. Employees can now
learn individually on site.
At Pfister, all internal training programs are EduQua certificated and conform to the quality levels of Swiss training institutions.

i-qbox Release 5.440 – Always a Step Ahead
We are happy to announce the latest release 5.440 of the
i-qbox Human Performance Suite.
As with any release, there have
been a number of enhancements made and new features built in. The main ones are:
- In co-operation with the Swiss information broker EDUSYS, the i-qbox is able to provide users with a database of
all external training programs and courses available in Switzerland and abroad. The whole
process, from registration to obtaining the necessary manager permission, to the completion and performance review, is covered in
one workflow procedure.
- The i-qbox now allows courses to be paid for using the online payment system Paypal. This enhancement significantly
simplifies and speeds up the course registration process. In addition, users can be assured that thanks to Paypal’s high
SSL level (Secure Sockets Layer), their payments will be made securely.
- In the past, questions containing a mathematical formula needed to be created as a picture or graphic and then uploaded. Now, a
Formula Editor, which allows formulas to be created as text and directly inserted into the question, is
available.
- With this release a number of new question types were created, and existing types enhanced. For example:
- „Marker“: A text must be edited – by underlining, crossing out, marking, highlighting in
different colours, etc. - in order to get the right answer.
- „Convert“: On clicking on a word, different options of the word, for example in capitals or
small letters, are presented. To answer the question, the participant must select what he or she feels is the right
presentation of the word.
- „Sequence“: With „drag & drop“ individual words or pictures need to be put in the right sequence.
- „Grid“: Like a „Grid Quiz”, words or numbers must be found in any direction within a grid.
- „Upload documents“: A participant can now give an answer by uploading a document. For
example an essay, an Excel file or a diagram. The format and maximum size of the upload document can be defined by the
administrator. The instructor can download this document, make corrections, and then upload the corrected version.
- „Image Hotspot“: More than one element (hotspot) can now be marked within a picture.
- A Flash file (e.g. an animation) can now be integrated into a question.
- In our May newsletter, we presented as our Smart Feature of the Month „paper-based tests”. In the article,
we explained how web-based tests can be converted into PDF documents. With the new release, these tests can now also be
converted into Microsoft Word documents for further editing.
- With the „move user to class“ function, the administrator has the possibility to choose a participant and move him
or her to another class within the same curriculum.
- External Learning Management Systems can now communicate with the i-qbox Human Performance Suite either through AICC or SCORM.
- In the area of Instructor-led Training (ILT) instances, the function “multiple resources“ allows the administrator
to book and/or assign course rooms, as well as vehicles (e.g. company cars), to specific participants and/or classes.
- With the new „time zone“ parameter, an individual, organization or complete system can be assigned a time zone. This
allows administrators to see what time an activity has been carried out by a user, no matter where in the world, in the
administrator’s local time. For example, an administrator in Switzerland will know at a glance what the equivalent time
was in Switzerland when a participant in the US carried out an activity.
- Administrators can now create custom fields in the user profile set-up. Thereby, allowing additional information to
be obtained from participants.
