“Quality not quantity counts” is a saying, which is universally applicable. For example to the world of sports like football (soccer). Then it is a team’s capabilities, not its size, which provides it with a competitive advantage. An advantage, which is only achievable with a team, which has been nurtured to its full potential, and can, therefore, deliver the performance necessary for it to deliver those oh-so sought-after “goals”. The key to such an effective team lies in the trainer’s ability to build a realistic snapshot of the team’s capabilities and align these to the its strategies. In other words, how efficiently the trainer can evaluate the competences of each individual team member against defined position profiles and play tactics, identify gaps and through appropriate training increase the overall performance of the team. A process, which must be on-going and consistent in order to bring about success.
